Adopt-a-Class Program

Did you know that some children, even those in Metro Vancouver, have never been to the ocean?  You can provide an opportunity for children, particularly those in need, to learn about the animals that live in the sea by helping their class go on a field trip to the Vancouver Aquarium.   

When you “adopt-a-class,” you make it possible for young students to visit the Aquarium and have an unforgettable experience. You may even inspire one to become a marine biologist!

Students have been visiting the Vancouver Aquarium and participating in our programs since we opened our doors in 1956.  Three generations of children have been engaged, amazed, and inspired by aquatic animals and their habitats through close encounters with fascinating creatures. 

Hands-on and experiential programs are waiting to satisfy students’ curiosity and enrich their education.  School programs feature live animals, props and activities delivered by Aquarium trained volunteer educators and staff.  The Aquarium features a number of galleries highlighting ecosystems in British Columbia, the Tropics, a free-flight Amazon Rainforest, and the Arctic.  The Aquarium is committed to fostering stewardship of aquatic ecosystems and integrates conservation messages into all of its programs. 

Vancouver Aquarium school programs also support the Prescribed Learning Outcomes of the BC Ministry of Education, as outlined in their Integrated Resource Packages (IRPs) and follow the Aquarium's conservation mission.
